‘There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.’ (Romans 8:1-4).

When we look at our King Jesus, we see the love of God. Love that came down perfect in all His ways. He came for the poor, the sick, those who were weary, the captives; those who were lost in Sin. He came for US all. He came to save and set us FREE from the bondage of the world. He laid bare on the cross for us. His blood shed was a sacrifice on our behalf. He died so that we may live. Live a life that was free from sin. Three days later, our King rose. And now He LIVES. He is with us in every step that we take. He is FOR us because He LOVES us.

Sometimes we may feel our sins run too deep. We wonder how we can ever be saved from them. We spend nights thinking and wishing we never went through those experiences. For some of us, our past mistakes always seem to find their way into our present life. We feel captive and not really moving on from our past. I want to encourage you today that through Christ Jesus we are set free (John 8:36). Paul states in Romans 8 that there is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION to those who are in Christ Jesus…. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us FREE from the law of sin and death.

Being in Christ Jesus is a gift from God which He has granted to us by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8). And through knowing Jesus, we are sensitive to His heart. We fall deeply in love in Him for the sacrifice He made, His perfect love He showed to us. In knowing our King Jesus, we realise that our identity is not found in our past or the ways of this world. For He came and He overcame the world. He bought us with His blood. So now we are His. Our IDENTITY rests in Him. Our failures, mistakes, worries and fears have no more room when we are in Christ Jesus. Knowing this beautiful truth sets us free and we begin to live our life fully for God.

Prayer.

God, give us the wisdom to know Christ Jesus more and be united in His death and His resurrection so that through our union we are set free and made new in His presence.

Proclamation.

‘I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.’ (Galatians 2:20).
