When the enemy stalks you like a prowler,
Lays his snares in wait like a fowler,
And fears have made your drink turn sour;
This could be the deadliest hour!
But in the LORD is a strong tower,
One who holds all the power
To turn thunderstorms to blessed showers—
The glory His; the victory ours!
So when you walk through the shadow of death,
And you feel like there’s no hope left,
Trust the One who supplies your breath;
“Oh Rock of Ages, won’t You cleft?”
See, we know not the height nor depth,
Of the love of Him who walked the earth
He created, our weight of sin to heft,
And to give new life—a second birth.
Now we have joy and peace galore;
If we have Jesus, we need nothing more.
This world’s distractions turn to bore
When we grasp what God has in-store.
He placed eternity in our core,
So He’d be the One we’d grope for.
Now we have joy and peace galore,
If we have Jesus; we need nothing more.
