Hi everyone! As a dabbling lyricist on the side (if I can call myself that), I thought I would post lyrics about certain topics; I have randomly decided to call this series, ‘Open Mic Sessions’. Without further hoopla, here is the first one, ‘Distorted Worldview’:
Rom. 1:22 – ‘Professing to be wise, they became fools,’ (NASB)
If a tree falls, lands on the ground,/
And no one is around,/ does it make a sound?/
Does the sun still shine when you’re underground?/
Is reality only shaped wherever you’re found?/
Just some of the questions in our world today;/
There’s no absolute truth, is what they say/
And yet are surprised by the moral decay/
When the Potter has been rejected by the clay./
Okay,/ Let’s take that worldview and spin it;/
Why then do you believe ‘evil’ should have a limit?/
Why are you horrified by abominable acts,/
When it’s ‘natural selection’ at work, according to your ‘facts’?/
There is an inherent sense of right and wrong,/
Showing deep down an evidence of God all along;/
Plus, God communicates daily through His works,/
But we’re more focused on validating our quirks/
Like, how you gonna say you were made by chance,/
When it’s a measure of probability, and not a force?/
Or how can the universe create itself,/
When to exist, there must be an underlying source?/
If we take the logic we’re so proud of and think it through,/
We would see this worldview leaves us without the other shoe!/
But I was so blinded by all the big words used,/
To be honest, it left me more than a bit confused;/
But I figured, these guys are much smarter than me,/
So they wouldn’t purport their theories without legitimacy./
Turns out they wouldn’t know truth if it slapped them in the face,/
Or they would, and say it’s increased wind pressure in the place/
‘Cause that’s what happens when God is rejected in the heart/
Truth is replaced,/ lies take the base,/
We need to retrace;/ if the Bible is indeed the word of God,/
The Creator of any and all things, then it’s odd/
To even think of leaving Him out of the equation,/
And go on chasing arrogant speculations./
Patience;/ don’t let the world pull the wool over your eyes,/
Chase Him;/ seek Him wholeheartedly—you’ll be surprised,/
He’s amazing,/ He lets Himself be found by whoever genuinely tries,/
And then praise Him,/ beholding the Christ,/ Lamb of the Lord,/
He was scurged;/ crucified/ to take the sins of the world./
If you want to know God the Creator and all His benefits,/
Then read His whole Revelation and learn—/ you’ll see the Genesis!/
Pray for His help to discern,/ and fend off your nemesis/
The great enemy of the soul; and so I’ll end with this:/
Seek Him before its too late; ignorance isn’t bliss!
Be on the look out for more episodes (not sure what to call these things) from the Open Mic Sessions!
